Win98SE - IE - Alcatel USB problem

IE getting illegal Operations or will not surf the web after installing / upgrading USB Alcatel software / drivers...

This is a winsock issue.

Make sure you have your Win98 CD, you may need it.

First , uninstall the software.

Then go start / settings / control panel / network.

Remove all TCP/IP from the network.

Click OK, do not restart.

Go to start / run and type in "regedit" press Enter.

Follow the path ---"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2"

Delete the folder "Winsock2".

Close regedit and restart the computer.

Next, go back into the control panel and network. Hit add, select protocol, and then go Microsoft on the left and TCP/IP on the right. Hit add. Click OK, restart, Yes

Try to connect and browse, if there is still a problem you may have to reinstall your ISP software and / or modem drivers.
